Commissions and General Usage
Q. Do you do commissions?
A. Yes, however I accept and decline commissions depending on my current work load and time schedule.
Q. How much do your commissions cost?
A. This varies depending on the project (coding, modification, illustration, etc.), the client, the project specifications, and the project scope. Feel free to contact me with your idea and I can give you a more exact quote.
Q. May I put your artwork on my website?
A. Sure. Please be sure to give me credit by linking back to http://shriker.ca/ and do not try to claim the work as your own.
Q. May I use your art as a tube/avatar/signature/etc.?
A. Similar to my answer above — yes you may, however I require some sort of credit or copyright notice.
Q. Can I resell your artwork or use it for a commercial product?
A. You are not, under any circumstances, to resell my art in any way shape or form. This includes, but is not limited to, mass producing merchandise with my images on it, and creating commissioned web sites using my images. If you are interested in doing such a thing, please contact me about it beforehand so that we can work out an agreement. My artwork is not public domain.
Q. May I copy or reference your artwork?
A. I do not mind if people copy or trace my images in order to learn from them. I do however ask that these copied images NOT be posted online or claimed as your own. In addition to this, it’s a really good idea to get your references from real life and not just imitate someone else’s style of artwork. Create your own interpretations of what you see.
Q. Do you have any other online art galleries?
A. Sure do! Here’s the current list of accounts that I have. Anything not listed here is not me. They are listed in order based upon how frequently I update them.
Q. May I roleplay as one of your characters?
A. Please do not use my images to roleplay as my character’s likeness or try to pass them off as your own characters. It makes me really sad. And I mean really sad. :’(
Q. May I save your images to my harddrive or use them as wallpapers?
A. Go for it. :] You can save my images on your harddrive, use them as desktop wallpapers, print them out, stick them on your wall, etc. All I ask is that you don’t claim them as your own. If you plan on printing an image out on a t-shirt or another object, do not resell it.
Technique
Q. What software applications do you use for your digital art?
A. Adobe Photoshop CS4, OpenCanvas, and Painter.
Q. What software applications do you use for your web programming?
A. My current favourite is a nice lightweight program called Notepad++. It supports all sorts of pretty syntax highlighting and has tabbed file viewing. It makes my life so much easier.
Q. Do you have a tablet?
A. I certainly do. It’s a 6×8″ Wacom Intuos 3 Graphics tablet.
Miscellaneous
Q. What does Shriker mean?
A. Shriker comes from the word “shrike.” A shrike is a type of small bird that is mostly known for impaling it’s prey on thorns. I thought it was interesting.
