16 Random Facts About Jodie

in Miscellaneous

This little survey has been making its way around a few circles of my friends now, so I thought I’d give it a go. The premise is simple, just share 16 random facts about yourself. Here are mine. :)

  1. I have a severe intolerance to the dye Red 40 (Allura Red AC). It’s in a lot of beauty products, as well as candy, tattoo inks, cereal, baked goods, etc. It doesn’t matter if I touch it, or ingest it, the reaction is the same: itching, rash, swelling, and full body eczema that lasts for weeks. I’m pretty good at avoiding it now. I’m also allergic to chocolate and walnuts.

  2. I’m not afraid of many things. I even like spiders and used to name the ones that I’d find in my bedroom. I do have one quirky little fear though. I can not tolerate people touching my feet, or more specifically, other people touching my toes. Getting a pedicure would surely be a nerve wracking experience.

  3. I’ve been the same height (5’3″) for over 11 years now. I think it’s safe to say that I’m not getting any taller. Both of my younger siblings are taller than me.

  4. Despite all of the sports I’ve played and general recklessness, I’ve never broken a bone.

  5. When I was younger I used to believe that there were gremlins living in the ventilation system of my house. Like many kids, I also used to run and then jump into bed so that the creatures under it wouldn’t have time to latch onto my ankles. I know they were there.

  6. I have no pets.

  7. For a few years, everyone in my household played hockey except for my sister. I played on two teams, both my high school team as well as a league. The ice is my battlefield. >:]

  8. Prolonged exposure to some types of fluorescent lighting can trigger migraines. In high school I used to think that I was dying… as it turns out, I wasn’t dying. The lighting was just so horrible that it was making me feel horrible. I’m glad that mystery was solved.

  9. I am not a furry.

  10. For as long as I can remember I’ve been an insomniac. I can clearly recall staying up past midnight reading Stephen King novels in grade four (those books are always scarier when read after 10PM).

  11. My thumbs sometimes randomly “lock up.” When this happens, I either shake my hand real quick in order to snap it free, and/or smash it against something.

  12. I can do a “shoot-the-duck” (backwards and forwards) in hockey equipment… and I like turning on/off light switches and opening/closing drawers with my feet. Flexible be I.

  13. So, there was this one time when I got tossed into a garbage can… Can’t remember if that was the same day that Andy lit my socks on fire or not though. Same class at least.

  14. English, History, and Visual Arts were my favourite subjects in high school.

  15. I’ve had many people now comment on the “strange” way that I walk. It’s a lot more noticeable when I’m carrying something, or if I’m not wearing shoes. Shoes really put a damper on my normal stride (heel-less sandles even more so). Anyway, it’s generally referred to as “fox walking.” Great to learn if you like sneaking up on people and scaring the pants off of them. ;)

  16. My current laptop’s name is Newt. My old laptop was named Wilson (courtesy of the movie Cast Away). My MP3 player is named Fetus (I giggle a lot whenever it’s in a Mac), and my thumb drive is called plain old Shriker.
